The Assam Police on Saturday detained a student for allegedly maintaining links with terror outfit Hijbul Mujahideen and Qamer-uz-Zaman who was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police on Thursday.
According to top sources, the detainee Saidul Alom is a college student in Nagaon who had gone missing three months ago and was picked up for interrogation from Lanka in Hojai.
The student’s detention comes a day after the Nagaon police arrested Shah Nawaz Alom, a close associate of Hizbul militant Qamer-uz-Zaman.
Shah Nawaz Alom, who was arrested by Assam Police from Hojai on charges of being a linkman of Hizbul Mujahideen has been sent to 6-days police custody.
During the course of intense interrogation, Alom confessed of maintaining regular contact with Qamer-uz-Zaman.
Meanwhile, the team of Assam Police, lead by DSP Kakoli Banya Baruah has reached Lucknow late yesterday evening to interrogate Assam youth Qamer-uz-Zaman.
Earlier, Qamer-uz Zaman, a dreaded Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist was arrested by Uttar Pradesh Police from Kanpur on Thursday.
