The Assam Police have detained three persons in connection with the murder of Guwahati-based businessman Avdesh Yadav. The detainees include Abbas Ali, the owner of the two-wheeler used in the incident, Ismail Ali and Akkas Ali. Guwahati Commissioner of Police Harmeet Singh said that the police are currently interrogating the trio.

It may be recalled here that the gruesome incident took place at the city’s Chatribari area when two unknown miscreants shot Yadav in front of his apartment. Yadav was rushed to the Marwari Maternity hospital in critical condition.

As per locals, Avdesh was a well-known entrepreneur who used to deal with grocery and textile. His business was mainly between Imphal and Guwahati. He also had at least four shops at Fancy Bazar’s Five Star Market complex. However, links to his association with supari traders have also surfaced. Avdesh was a father of five children.

Meanwhile, Avdesh’s nephew has revealed that while the family has no animosity with anyone from Assam, the family does have a strained relationship with a person identified as W. Yadav from Bihar. One of Avdesh’s brothers was also killed three years back.
