Tripura police is carrying out its tirade against drug menace in the city. A series of raids were carried out in different parts of the state which resulted in the busting of two major drug rackets.
One raid was conducted at the main market of Dharmanagar in north district which resulted in the police confiscating 110 bottles of cough syrups and around 35,000 drug tablets, both of which are banned substances.
It is being estimated that the seized contraband would amount to almost Rs 30,000. A person named Subhash Dev has been arrested in this connection.
On the other hand, acting on a tip off, police recovered 192 packets of dried marijuana from under a bridge at Jirania sub-division in Tripura’s west district.
The marijuana packets were strategically placed within the structure of the bridge. Police are investigating as to who is behind the racket.
