PM Modi to visit Assam on April 14, to inaugurate, lay foundation stone of projects worth Rs 8,000 crore

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Sunday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate developmental projects worth over Rs 8,000 crores to the people of Assam during his visit to the state on April 14, which coincides with the festival of Bohag Bihu.
Among the projects that will be flagged off by PM Modi include the inauguration of the AIIMS Guwahati at Changsari, which has been built at a cost of Rs 1,123 crores and will have 750 beds and 100 MBBS seats.
In addition, new medical colleges at Nalbari, Nagaon, and Kokrajhar, built at a cost of Rs 1,600 crores and having a total of 1,500 beds will be dedicated to the nation. The Assam Advanced Healthcare Innovation Institute at IIT Guwahati, a joint collaboration between the Government of Assam and IIT Guwahati with initial funding of around Rs 600 crores by the Government of Assam, will also have its foundation stone laid by PM Modi.
During his visit, PM Modi will ceremoniously distribute AB-PMJAY cards to 1.10 crore beneficiaries, inaugurate a 500 TPD Methanol plant of Assam Petro-Chemicals Limited at Namrup, launch a Rs 100 crore beautification project for Rang Ghar, and lay the foundation of a bridge over the river Brahmaputra connecting Palashbari and Sualkuchi at a cost of Rs 3,197 crores.
The highlight of PM Modi’s visit would be to mark attend the Bihu celebration at Sarusajai Stadium, where 11,010 drummers and Bihu dancers will perform. He will also attend the closing ceremony of the Platinum Jubilee celebration of the Gauhati High Court.
The announcement was made by Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma during a media briefing on Sunday, ahead of PM Modi’s arrival in the state.
