Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated and laid the foundation of a slew of development projects worth over Rs 3,300 crore at Silapathar in Assam’s Dhemaji district.
The development projects include – a Gas Compressor Station at Hebeda Village, Makum, Tinsukia, Oil India Limited’s (OIL) Secondary Tank Farm at Madhuban, Dibrugarh and the IOCL-INDMAX Unit at Indian Oil’s Bongaigaon Refinery.
He also inaugurated the Dhemaji Engineering College and laid the foundation stone for Sualkuchi Engineering College.
Speaking during the launch ceremony, the Prime Minister said that the Centre and Assam government are working collaboratively to develop infrastructure in the state. The projects are expected to usher in an era of energy security and prosperity and open bright avenues of opportunity for local youth.
PM Modi assured the people of the state that the speed of development will be increased.
“Assam has everything that is enough for every Assamese. We just need to ensure that the double-engine of development that is already in place is strengthened. I assure the people of Assam that the speed of development will be increased,” he said.
He also stated that Assam’s tea, tourism, handloom and handicraft will strengthen the State’s self-reliance. He added saying with ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’, CM Sarbananda Sonowal’s government worked on several projects.
