Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday has announced a nationwide total lockdown from 12 o’clock tonight as an unprecedented move to tackle the Coronavirus crisis.
“In view of the current situation, the nationwide total lockdown will be in place for 21 days — three weeks,” said Prime Minister Modi during his second address to the nation.
Addressing the nation, Prime Minister Modi said a lockdown of at least 21 days was a must to break the chain of the virus. He added that the lockdown was necessary to save the nation.
The Prime Minister said, ‘If we are not able to manage the upcoming 21 days (of nationwide complete lockdown), we will be pushed back 21 years.’
‘Today India is at the stage where our actions today will decide to what extent we can bring down the impact of this disaster. This is the time to strengthen our resolve again and again,’ he said.
Prime Minister Modi significantly pointed out that a lockdown in this case was almost like a curfew and everyone should without fail stay indoors. This he said was necessary to save precious lives.
