Pineapple fest in Tripura

After declaring pineapple as the ‘State Fruit’ of Tripura by President Ramnath Kovind during his recent visit to the state, Tripura today hosted ‘Pineapple Festival and Exposition 2018’ at Pragna

After declaring pineapple as the ‘State Fruit’ of Tripura by President Ramnath Kovind during his recent visit to the state, Tripura today hosted ‘Pineapple Festival and Exposition 2018’ at Pragna bhavan.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Debbarma, which was organized by the Tripura chapter of the Confederation of Indian Industry.

Chairman of CII Northeast, Abhijit Barooah and general manager of NABARD Sunil Kumar were also present on the occasion.

The Deputy Chief Minister, while addressing the gathering said that just declaring pineapple as the state fruit was not enough. Debbarma added that pineapple cultivation should be taken up in the right spirit by the growers.

He also said that the State has immense potential to grow in the field of horticulture and specially in pineapple cultivation.
