The Food and Civil Supplies Department of Sikkim has issued an order putting a cap on the sale of high speed (HSD) diesel and motor spirit (MS) or petrol to the public amid the natural calamity that has hit the state early Wednesday morning.
The order says that only 20 litres of diesel and 15 litres of petrol will be given per vehicle per day by the fuel outlets. Sale of LPG cylinders too will be rationed to avoid any panic buying or hoarding.
“…all petrol pumps, fuel outlets in the State shall henceforth ration the sale of High Speed Diesel (HSD) and Motor Spirit (MS) to all the customer. For the General Public not more than twenty (20) litres of HSD and fifteen (15) litres of MS shall be given per vehicle per day by the fuel outlets,” the order said.
The petrol pumps and fuel outlets have been directed to maintain a minimum buffer stock of 1500 litres each of HSD and MS excluding the dead stock in the storage tankers. This minimum stock shall be used only for emergency purposes.
The petrol pumps and fuel outlets have been asked to maintain proper record of sale of fuel.
The government has also asked the LPG dealers to maintain sufficient stock of LPG cylinders and distribute in a rational manner.
