Over 80 Lakh People Escaped Multi-Dimensional Poverty in Assam: CM

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that over 80 lakh people in the state have escaped multi-dimensional poverty in recent years, attributing the achievement to his government’s anti-poverty initiatives.
The Chief Minister made this statement in connection with a post on X on the occasion of International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. In his post, Sarma highlighted the state government’s comprehensive policies aimed at improving living conditions for its citizens.
“In the last few years, over 80 lakh people have escaped multi-dimensional poverty in Assam; a testament to our efforts to fight poverty,” he wrote. Sarma outlined various schemes, including Orunodoi, which provides monthly financial assistance, along with free food grains, free medical treatment, subsidized medicines, and homes with water connections, among others, as key contributors to this success.
“On International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, we reiterate our commitment to uplift the citizens of Assam,” the Chief Minister added.
The announcement reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to reduce poverty and improve the standard of living in the state through a range of welfare programs.
