Uncertainty looms large over the construction of the 2 way Assam Mala project from Haflong Tinali to Lower Haflong in Dima Hasao as over 80 families have knocked on the doors of the Gauhati High Court, seeking fair compensation for their land and crops.
Families whose land, gardens, and crops stand to be lost as a result of the two-way Assam Mala project have demanded appropriate compensation, but have allegedly been ignored by the relevant department. The families have alleged discrimination during the distribution of their compensation.

According to the families, the distribution was carried out in an unfair manner, with some receiving higher compensation for less property and others receiving less compensation for huge properties.
Now the families have approached the Gauhati High Court seeking justice in regard to the compensation while praying that the court will deliver justice.
