As India witnesses the second wave of Coronavirus, the number of COVID-19 cases in Assam continues to rise with over 500 people testing positive on Friday.

As many as 32,421 tests were conducted today, of which 573 tested positive for Coronavirus. The overall positivity rate is recorded at 1.77 percent.

Of the fresh cases, 245 positive cases have been detected in Kamrup (M) alone.

Taking to Twitter, Health and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed, “COVID 19 status – Summary of 16/4/2021* *Today’s Total 573* *Overall Positivity Percentage (573 cases out of 32421 test done = 1.77%)* *Kamrup(M) 245*.”

The active cases tally in the state has now gone up to 4,069.

According to the bulletin, 113 people were cured of the disease during the day, taking the total number of recoveries to 2,16,397.

On April 15, the state saw 18,323 tests with 499 testing positive, as per data provided by National Health Mission, Assam. The overall positivity rate stood at 2.72 percent.
