Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma launched a corporate book of Oil India Limited titled ‘Oil India – The Pipeline Saga’ at Janata Bhawan in Guwahati yesterday.

The book was released in the presence of OIL’s senior management as well as noted author and Padma Shri awardee Arup Kumar Dutta.

The voluminous book is based on the birth and journey of India’s pioneering cross-country pipeline constructed from Naharkatiya in Upper Assam to Barauni in Bihar over a distance of 1,158 km for transporting crude oil from Assam to newly constructed public sector refineries during the 1960’s.
