Taking exception to the July 10 mishap in which a concrete roof of the under construction plant at Namrup Thermal Power Station (NTPS) crumbled, the Assam Government has set a deadline for tomorrow to the 5-member inquiry committee for submission of the interim internal report concerning the mishap to the State government.
Following grave repercussions from various quarters, the State government had constituted a 5-member committee comprising members of the Assam Power Generation Company Limited or APGCL to prepare an interim internal report on the incident.
While inspecting the site of the mishap on July 16, State power minister Tapan Gogoi said that the government has set July 18 as the deadline for submission of the inquiry report, following which it will initiate necessary actions.
The power minister also came down heavily upon the Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited which is implementing the Namrup Replacement Power Project Phase-I.
Local organizations have blamed both BHEL and NTPS alleging total neglect and large-scale corruption in the implementation of the project.
