In a major decision, the Tripura government has decided to open National Service Scheme, or NSS units in all schools near the international border. This was informed by Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb.
Addressing a gathering of Tripura State NSS volunteers on January 7th, CM Deb said that various international forces are conspiring to create an anti-India mindset among the youth, especially in the bordering areas and to counter such forces, Tripura has decided to make it mandatory to open NSS units in all its bordering schools in order to nurture nationalism and patriotic zeal among the students.

During the program, CM Deb, along with state Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Sushanta Chowdhury and Food Minister Manoj Kanti Deb, among others, also distributed prizes to various young achievers of NSS volunteers in the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Sushanta Chowdhury appreciated the role of the NSS and its volunteers and also urged the youth of the state to come forward and aid the state government in its fight against drug abuse and addiction.
