With the publication date for the final draft of the National Register of Citizens drawing nearer, the Assam Police is taking care that mischief mongers do not get any free hand in spreading misconceptions among the people.
The police is not going to tolerate any objectionable statements or comments against the NRC on social media. This was made clear by Assam DGP Kuladhar Saikia who said that strict actions would be taken against those who indulge in objectionable comments online regarding the NRC. Saikia made it clear that such activities may even lead up to imprisonment.
