Two officials engaged in the mega exercise of updating the National Register of Citizens (NRC) were caught red handed while accepting bribe for inclusion of a woman’s name in the citizens register.
The two officials identified as Syed Shahjahan and Rahul Parashar were arrested by sleuths of the Anti-corruption and Vigilance Wing of the Assam Police after being tipped off by the woman.
Meanwhile, Syed Shahjahan and Rahul denied their involvement in the case when asked by newspersons.
The review meeting was attended by Chief Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Tripura.
