From the corridors of the Supreme Court to the Parliament. Now the NRC issue has hit the streets of Kolkata with the Trinamool Congress observing black day across the state to protest the alleged illegal heckling and detention of its party leaders at Silchar airport in Assam.

Hundreds of TMC members carrying black flags took to the streets of Kolkata protesting the alleged high-handedness of authorities at Silchar airport. Reports also came in that during the course of the protest, the TMC workers also clashed with BJP supporters in some places.

BJP supporters, had taken out a rally in support of the NRC exercise in Assam and also demanded NRC in West Bengal.

Meanwhile, TMC workers also clashed with BJP supporters on the streets of Kolkata over the NRC row. The BJP is demanding the implementation of NRC in West Bengal.
