Northeast celebrates India’s 75 years of freedom with much gaiety

Patriotic fervor has gripped the nation as the country celebrates 75 years of freedom. From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, Assam to Arunachal, the Tiranga has united over 1.4 billion Indians as people take part in the historic celebrations.

Meanwhile, the Northeast is also set for the historic Independence day celebrations, and joining the rest of the nation, Assam too is celebrating India’s 76th Independence Day with much gaiety. The Assam Government has organised a special I-Day program at Khanapara, where Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma unfurled the tricolor.

And as part of the Independence Day celebrations, a walkathon was organised at the Misamari Army Station in the Sonitpur district of Assam. The 3 kilometer-walkathon was flagged off by Brigaider Rahul Machral.

The walkathon started from Misamari Army Station stadium and culminated at the same point after traversing a distance of 3 kilometers.

The walkathon was participated by army personnel, officers, and their family members. The army hoisted the national flag at the Army Public School in Misamari in presence of the students.

Meanwhile, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma hoisted the national flag at his residence to mark 75 years of India’s independence.

Taking to Twitter, Chief Minister Sangma also paid tributes to the freedom fighters.

And ITBP jawans celebrated the 76th Independence Day at a height of 18,800 feet in Sikkim.

It may be mentioned that the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign has made the celebrations even more special this year with the tricolor dotting homes, streets, towns, and cities.
