Six new areas – Amingaon, North Guwahati, Rudreshwar, Dhupatari, Saraighat, and Lachitgarh, will soon be part of Greater Guwahati, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed on Monday.
Speaking to the media, Chief Minister Sarma said that the inclusion of the six new areas in Greater Guwahati will take place once the construction of the new bridge over the Brahmaputra connecting Guwahati with North Guwahati is complete.
CM Sarma said the areas were being added under Greater Guwahati so that people call it just “Guwahati’ instead of north and south Guwahati.
CM Sarma believes that this initiative will be considered an important milestone in the development of the entire region.
