North East States Set Up 24/7 Helplines for Students Amid India-Pakistan Tensions

Authorities have urged students to remain vigilant and utilise these helplines if they require any support while away from their home states.

As tensions between India and Pakistan escalate, the Meghalaya, Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh governments have stepped up efforts to ensure the safety of their students studying in various parts of the country.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma announced this morning that around 70 students from the state, currently studying in Punjab and Haryana, have been accommodated at Meghalaya House in Delhi. In a post on X, Sangma added that more students are expected to arrive soon, as they make their way to the capital for safety.

The Assam government has also issued a public advisory for students from the state studying in different parts of India, urging them to reach out for assistance if needed. The following 24/7 contact numbers have been made available at Assam Bhawan, New Delhi:
