North-East Festival in IIT Kharagpur displays rich culture and traditions of NE

Posters with information and data about the eight states of the Northeast were put up in the venue

Students from Northeastern region studying at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-Kharagpur), more than a thousand kilometres away from home, organised North-East Festival at the campus.

With an aim to encourage welfare and solidarity among students from northeast at the campus of IIT Kharagpur, the North East Students Forum (NESF) held the North-East Festival 2024 on March 9 as a form to celebrate and display rich traditions and culture of the region.

The event was a grand affair. It featured ramp walk, dance and singing competition.

It has also featured numerous food stalls offering authentic Northeastern cuisine. Long queues were seen at stalls throughout the day.

To further enhance the audience’s understanding of the region, educational posters showcasing data about the eight states of the Northeast were put up throughout the venue.

The event was graced by Registrar of IIT Kharagpur, Capt. Amit Singh, Deputy Registrar Santanu Das, and Chairman of NESF Professor Khanindra Pathak.
