No untoward incidents in Manipur in last 24 hours: Minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan

The last 24 hours in strife-torn Manipur has been peaceful with no untoward incidents reported from any part of the state, said Manipur Information and Public Relations Minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan today.

Briefing the media in Imphal, the minister said that 349 relief camps are presently operational across the state housing as many as 50, 648 violence-hit victims. To ensure that the students of medical colleges does not lose their academic year, the government is working on a model to provide them classes physically or virtually. In this regard, the Education Minister will hold a detailed press conference on Monday and list out the steps that the state government would take for the students.

Essential commodities are flowing in regularly through NH-37. Since May 15 as many as 2,376 goods laden trucks have entered Imphal carrying around 35,000 metric tons which includes construction materials, fuels and other essential items, the Minister said.

The government is putting all efforts to ensure that rail services reaches Khongsang by activating the railway station within seven to ten days, the Minister informed.

Steps are also being taken to monitor and control any sort of price hike or inflation.

The Health department is also taking up all measures to ensure that the health of the public is not compromised. Additionally, 212 newly recruited doctors have been deployed for medical check-up across the state.

Simultaneously, combing operations are also being carried out at vulnerable areas of both hills and valleys, the Minister said.
