NIA Cracks Down on Jaish-e-Mohammad: 7 Arrested in Assam’s Goalpara, Nationwide Raids Continue

Assam CM Himanta said the arrests validate concerns about Islamist terror presence in the state.
In a coordinated nationwide operation, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested seven terrorists affiliated with the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) group in Assam’s Goalpara district. These arrests were part of a larger crackdown that spanned 22 locations across several states, including Jammu & Kashmir, Maharashtra, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Assam.
Alongside the arrests in Assam, four individuals linked to the JeM were detained in Maharashtra two from Jalore, one from Sambhaji Nagar, and one from Malegaon. In Jammu & Kashmir, the NIA carried out raids in Baramulla, further widening the scope of the investigation.
Reacting to the arrests, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reaffirmed his earlier statements regarding the presence of Islamist terror forces in the state. “This vindicates our assertion about the growing terror threat in Assam,” Sarma stated, emphasizing the need for continued vigilance.
The NIA’s operation is considered a significant step in dismantling terror networks across India. Further investigations are underway to expose additional links and collaborators involved in these activities.
