A movie about the sad story of OceanGate’s underwater vessel, Titan, which disappeared earlier in June 2023, is in the making, according to a report by Variety.

The film will be produced by E. Brian Dobbins, known for ‘Blackening,’ and MindRiot Entertainment.

In June, the Titan submersible vanished during a deep-sea dive near the Titanic wreck in the Atlantic Ocean. Its wreckage was found four days later by a remote underwater vehicle. It is believed the submersible imploded during the expedition.

Dobbins will work as a co-producer, and the script will be written by Justin MacGregor and Jonathan Keasey from MindRiot, Variety reported.

This film will be the first to tell the tragic story of the Titan submersible. Shortly after its disappearance, UK’s Channel 5 aired a documentary called ‘Titanic Sub: Lost At Sea.’

Some folks had speculated that James Cameron, the director of ‘Titanic,’ might make a movie about the sub, but he denied these rumours on social media.

All five members of the submersible’s crew were lost in the accident. They were British businessman Hamish Harding, British-Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood, his 19-year-old son Suleman, former French Navy diver Paul-Henry Nargeolet, and OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush.

One of the film’s creators, Keasey, shared, “The Titan tragedy is another example of how our quick news cycle can be unfair, ruining lives without due process. Our movie will pay tribute to those involved in the submersible tragedy and their families. It will also highlight concerns about today’s media.”
