Minister Dahal also confirmed that permits for tourists visiting Lachung and Lachen will start being issued from next week.

The Roads and Bridges Minister, NB Dahal, has announced that the long-awaited alternative highway from Naga to the popular tourist spots of Lachung and Lachen is expected to open within a week.

Minister said this during a phone interview with Northeast Live, bringing a wave of relief to residents and travelers who have struggled with limited access since June due to a severe roadblock.

The primary state highway at Naga has been impassable for several months, causing significant disruption to travel and tourism in the region. With the completion of the new highway, connectivity will be restored, allowing tourists and locals to travel smoothly to these scenic locations. This development is expected to revive tourism activities and ease movement in North Sikkim.
