NESAC to aid Tripura to map resources, warn before disasters

Tripura is the 4th state in the region after Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya have signed MoU with NESAC.
The Tripura Science and Technology department today signed an MoU with the North East Space Application Centre for an ambitious set of 20 projects including satellite mapping for resource mobilization and utilization including early warning systems for natural disasters.
Tripura is the 4th state in the region after Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya have signed MoU with NESAC for integrating space technology for advanced planning, mobilization, and utilization of resources.
Tripura Science and Technology Secretary PK Chakraborty who signed the MoU with NESAC Director SP Aggarwal said the agreements would promote space application avenues in Tripura.
The MoU will benefit sectors like agriculture, disaster management, environment, geology, mining, healthcare, human resource development and employment, surveying, tourism, water resource management, etc, and Rs 423.08 lakh would be spent in the next three years on these projects.
Tripura, which witnesses flood almost every year could benefit from the move.
