Neiphiu Rio is all set for his 5th term as the Chief Minister of Nagaland. The NDPP will be holding a crucial meeting with it’s newly elected MLAs at around 3PM this evening to elect it’s new leader. If sources are to be believed, it is clear enough that Neiphiu Rio will retain the post of Chief Minister.
The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) won 25 seats, its ally BJP has won 12 which equals to 37, a comfortable number way beyond the majority mark to form the government.
It needs to be mentioned that the NDPP had entered into a seat-sharing formula, wherein it was decided that the NDPP would be contesting in 40 seats, while the BJP candidates will be in the fray from 20 seats.
NDPP secretary general Abu Metha said that Neiphiu Rio will continue to be the next Chief Minister.
The, NDPP won 25 seats out of the 40 seats it had contested, while the BJP emerged victorious in 12 seats.
