NEIAAP and DARC observe World Mental Health Day in Guwahati

The North-East Indian Association of Applied Psychology (NEIAAP), in collaboration with the Defence Accounts Recreation Club (DARC), Controller of Defence Accounts (CDA) Guwahati, observed World Mental Health Day today at CDA, Guwahati.
The event was inaugurated by Dr Dimpy Mahanta, Founder President of NEIAAP, along with key figures such as Kamakshi Chakravarty, Treasurer (NEIAAP), Jayashree Das (Clinical Psychologist), N. Gohain (DCDA), and Richika Bordoloi, Executive Committee Member, NEIAAP.
The primary objective of the event was to foster mental health awareness among both the youth and staff of CDA Narengi. It proved to be a grand success, with student members of the Association showcasing their talents through dance drama, poetry recitations, songs centred on mental health, and musical performances featuring the violin and dhol bandana, all aimed at promoting awareness of mental health issues, a statement said.
Jayashree Das, the Guest Speaker for the programme and a Clinical Psychologist, enlightened the audience about various mental health conditions, their associated symptoms, and effective coping mechanisms for daily stresses. Dr. Mahanta, the President of NEIAAP, emphasized this year’s World Mental Health Day theme, “Mental Health is a Universal Human Right,” underlining the importance of creating an egalitarian society free from the stigma surrounding mental health conditions.
Around 300 participants came together to raise awareness about mental health issues.
NEIAAP, founded in 2017, is a registered organization dedicated to spreading mental health awareness, with a specific focus on skill development, suicide prevention, and building resilience among the youth of the North East Region.
