NEHU Students Protest Intensifies Over Detention of NEHUSU President Sandy Sohtun Over Professor Assault

Situation continues to be tense at Shillong’s Northeastern Hill University where students contineud their protest against the arrest of NEHUSYU president Sandy Sohtun. Sohtun was arrested in connection witht he assautl of an asistant professor of the Hindi department of the University. A wave of student-led resistance swept through North-Eastern Hill University today as members of the NEHU Students’ Union and Khasi Students’ Union, NEHU Unit staged a demonstration outside the Central Library. With black flags in hand and slogans echoing through the campus, students marched from the Central Library to Gate 2, condemning what they called abuse of power and demanding justice.
