As Assam reels under the first wave of floods, the Kopili river now flows above the danger level. The overflowing Kopili has submerged several important roads in the region hitting basic communications.

The Raikota Chandanpur village has been heavily submerged forcing people to abandon their houses. The opening of seven gates of the Khangdong dam by NEEPCO has also resulted in heavy flooding of the region surrounding the Kopili.
