An NE Forum for Indigenous People has been constituted, which will work collectively to address issues confronting the region.

The forum is an upshot of the NE People’s Conference that was held on Tuesday at City Convention Centre in Imphal by MANPAC for the apex civil society organisations of the region.

The forum is also firm in its demand for ILP, NRC and other influx regulation measures for the region. The newly formed forum will also act against any anti-NE people policies of the Centre that threaten the lives, resources, habitat as well as demography of the region.

Altogether, over 36 delegates comprising the CSOs of the North-eastern States participated in the conference. The conference laid much stress on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill and others issues that threaten the existence of the indigenous people of the region.
