The Nagaland Police force is preparing for the possibility of repeal of AFSPA from the state. This was informed by Nagaland’s DGP T. John Longkumer. The DGP said that the state police were preparing to take all responsibilities in case the AFSPA is repealed by the state.
Stating that everything was being done based on assumptions at the moment, DGP Longkumer said in case the AFSPA is repealed, the state police doesn’t want to be caught unawares.

The Nagaland DGP also had a meeting with the Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, on January 21 to brief him on the readiness of the Nagaland police to deal with law and order issues and also wherever required like CI operations, crime control, etc.
Meanwhile, Longkumer, who is also a member of the committee constituted by the Ministry of Home Affairs to study the lifting of AFSPA from Nagaland, said the committee has had just one sitting in MHA so far.
