The Director of National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), Atul Kumar met Nagaland Governor La. Ganesan and briefed him about the progress made in the repair work of National Highway 29 that was badly damaged by landslides that hit the Highway in Pherima village on Tuesday.
The Governor urged NHIDCL to take all necessary measures to mitigate the damage and expedite the completion of work on NH-29.

Taking to X, the official handle of NHDCL mentioned about a meeting that addressed pending issues related to ongoing NH projects in the state. The post read, “In a strategic review meeting, Shri Atul Kumar, Director (T) NHIDCL, held discussions with Shri J Alam, Chief Secretary of Nagaland, to review the progress of the Dimapur – Kohima road project and address pending issues related to ongoing NH projects in the state. This collaborative effort demonstrates NHIDCL’s unwavering commitment to accelerate infrastructure development in Nagaland and enhance regional connectivity and accessibility.”

A team of the NHIDCL led by its Director is camping in Nagaland to assess the damage of the NH-29 caused by the recent natural calamity. Since Friday, the road at KM126 on NH-29 from Dimapur to Kohima has been partially opened for specific category commercial vehicles. The NHIDCL, state PWD, Police, and District administration will continue to monitor the road condition, ensuring a safe and gradual return to normal traffic flow at the earliest.

It is to be mentioned that as many as 6 people were killed, and several injured on National Highway-29 (Dimapur-Kohima) after a devastating landslide hit Pherima village, in Nagaland’s Chumukedima district on Tuesday night. Many remain missing, and those injured are undergoing treatment in hospitals.
Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio also visited the landslide-affected areas along National Highway 29 on Thursday and took stock of the situation despite bad weather conditions.
NHIDCL’s prompt response and ongoing coordination with state authorities emphasized their commitment to accelerating infrastructure development, enhancing regional connectivity, and improving accessibility in Nagaland.
