Nagaland: JDU (U) upset over delay in urban body polls

The JDU’s Nagaland unit has lashed out at the Neiphiu Rio-led United Democratic Alliance for allegedly trying to delay the Urban Local Body elections despite a clear direction from the Supreme Court.

The JDU Nagaland also launched a poster campaign across the state as part of its first phase of agitation demanding immediate conduct of the Urban Local Body polls.

General secretary of the Nagaland JDU Kitoho S Rotokha alleged that despite clear directives from the Supreme Court, the UDA government is deliberately delaying the polls due to rampant corruption.

The Supreme Court gad on July 29 issued directions to the Nagaland State Election Commission to complete the Urban Local Bodies elections and declare results for the same by the end of January 2023.
