The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) announced on Wednesday Wanglem Konyak as its candidate for the upcoming bye-election for the 43-Tapi Assembly Constituency.
The ceremony for ticket distribution took place at Congress Bhavan in Kohima.
Wanglem Konyak, the Congress candidate, expressed his gratitude to both the central and state party leaders for showing confidence in him. Konyak also appealed for the support of the people in his constituency, promising that if he is elected, he will work tirelessly to develop not only his constituency but the entire state.
In the state general elections earlier this year, Konyak had contested as a candidate from the Naga People’s Front (NPF) in the same constituency against Late Noke Wangnao. He lost to Late Noke by a margin of 82 votes.
Konyak is scheduled to file his nomination papers tomorrow. The State President of NPCC, Supongmeren Jamir, stated that the state’s Congress leaders are united in their commitment to support the cause of the Nagas, with a particular focus on the 43-Tapi assembly constituency. Jamir emphasized the party’s dedication to working for the welfare of the grassroots people. He expressed hope that the people will extend their support, and the Congress party aims for a strong victory in this election.
