The FIFA World Cup fever has gripped the entire globe. But a few in the remote corners do not get the oppurtunity to get a glimpse of the mega sporting event owing to various constraints.
However, as far as Nagaland is concerned, the Army has taken it upon themselves to make football fans happy at Longwa along the India Myanmar border. The Mon battalion of the Assam Rifles organized a screening of the football matches. Elated over this, people including children, women as well as senior citizens flocked the village church ground to see their favourite footballers showcasing their skills in the football World Cup.
It was an unique sight since the villagers come together only during pre-Christmas or other common celebrations.
A sense of friendship was also felt among the Assam Rifles and locals. Foreign tourists also witnessed this event and was amazed to watch FIFA World Cup at Longwa.
