Tribal student bodies in Manipur have threatened to intensify their agitation if the university impasse does not come to an end soon.

Addressing mediapersons at the Senapati district headquarter on Saturday, Joseph Adani, President All Naga Students Association Manipur urged both the government and the agitators to bring immediate normalcy by ending the disagreement, failing which the tribal student bodies will be compelled to intensify the agitation.

Citing that the prolonged shutdown is adversely affecting the future of the tribal students studying in Manipur university, he also demanded the state government to make alternate arrangements for the tribal students till a solution is reached at.

The 48-hour general strike called by the All Tribal Students’ Union Manipur, the Kuki Students’ Organisation and the All Naga Students’ Association Manipur protesting the shutdown of Manipur University will come to an end on the midnight of 11th August.

While these groups are demanding an immediate end to the crisis, groups in the valley are unrelenting on the issue and stand by their demand for removal of Manipur university Adya Prasad Pandey before calling off the agitation.
