Assembly speaker Metbah Lyngdoh has informed that the designer of the dome and contractor of the new Assembly building at Mawdiangdiang, have been penalised for their lapses which led to the fall of the dome.

Lyngdoh was speaking to reporters after chairing a meeting of the High Power Committee (HPC) on Friday.

The Speaker said that as per the agreement signed with the government the penalty clause will be imposed. According to him the designer has also agreed to serve the penalty clause.

“The designer has also assured that they will appoint a technical person who will supervise or coordinate the designing part who has the capacity to oversee these kinds of projects,” Lyngdoh said.

He also informed that the designer has agreed that the new dome design will be prepared by them free of cost and no amount will be charged from the government.
