Mizoram: Teacher arrested on suspicion of killing live-in partner

A 57-year old man, a teacher in a government-run high school, was arrested by Police on suspicion of murdering his live-in partner in central Mizoram’s Serchhip district.
The victim, Saidingliani Sailo (33) was in a live-in relationship with C. Lalliana for long time.
Lalliana left his wife and children long back to live with Saidingliani Sailo. The couple had been residing at Lalliana’s house.
Police said that, according to their neighbours, the couple had a heated argument on Thursday night which later turned violent. Next morning, Lalliana went to his school to attend some sports event and the victim was later found dead inside their residence.
The neighbors claimed that even before this incident, the unmarried couple used to fight very often.
The victim’s family alleged that Lalliana might have beaten Sailo to death. They filed a complaint against Lalliana at the Thenzawl Police Station.
Follwoing the complaint, Police launched an investigation into the unnatural death of the woman.
Police has arrested Lalliana and he is currently under Thenzawl Police’s custody.
Further investigation is underway.
