Mizoram: Teacher accused of stripping student placed under suspension

The primary school teacher, who was accused of allegedly stripping a girl student in Mizoram’s Lunglei district, was placed under suspension by the state project director of Samagra Shiksha.

According to the suspension order, PC Lalbiakengi, a Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan teacher of a government-run primary school at Thangpui village, was arrested in Lunglei town for allegedly stripping a 6-year-old student and was booked under section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015.

Lalbiakengi was arrested on Saturday and remanded in 14-day judicial custody by a district court. She was then sent to Lunglei district jail at Sazaikawn near Lunglei town.

Meanwhile, Lunglei South subdivisional education officer H Sangthanga said the accused teacher was supposed to submit her response to the show-cause notice on Monday but was unable to do so as she was already lodged in jail.

Sangthanga further informed that he had visited the prison to record her statement, which was later sent to the school education department director for further course of action.
