Of the 32 fresh cases, seven cases were reported from Aizawl district, one from Saitual district and eight cases each were reported from Kolasib, Serchhip and Lawngtlai districts, the official said.

Two cases were confirmed at Zoram Medical College (ZMC) with RT-PCR machines, 18 cases at four district hospitals with TrueNat labs and the remaining 12 cases were detected through Rapid Antigen Test in Aizawl and Lawngtlai districts.

Eight personnel each of Mizoram police and 1st India Reserve Battalion of Mizoram police, who returned from Bihar after election duty, were among the newly infected people, he said.

Of the 32 patients, 18 have travel history while six people were diagnosed with COVID-19 during contact tracing .

Seven patients have developed symptoms of COVID-19 while the rest 25 patients were asymptomatic, the official said.

According to him, there are 487 active COVID-19 patients in the state, while 3,021 people have recovered from the disease.

Of the 487 active patients, 342 belonged to Aizawl district, Lunglei (17), Champhai (5), Serchhip (23), Lawngtlai (58), Hnahthial (2), Saitual (4), and Kolasib, Mamit and Khawzawl districts have 12 patients each, he said.

So far, Mizoram has also reported five COVID-19 fatalities, all from Aizawl district.

The state has tested 1,35,935 samples for COVID-19 till date, including 1,397 on Wednesday. PTI
