Mizoram Flood: The advisory is aimed purely at ensuring safety and allowing local authorities to focus entirely on relief operations.
With the MET department forecasting more rains in the coming days in Mizoram, the state government has issued a travel advisory requesting all including government officials from outside the state to postpone their travel plans.
All Central Government officials, state representatives, and other dignitaries have been urged to postpone any planned visits to Mizoram until 13 June 2025.
The advisory is aimed purely at ensuring safety and allowing local authorities to focus entirely on relief operations.
So far, five people have lost their lives in Mizoram due to landslides and flash floods triggered by incessant heavy rainfall over the past several days. The extreme weather has caused widespread devastation across multiple districts, with incidents of landslides, mudslides, rockfalls, and flash floods severely disrupting daily life.
District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMAs), led by the respective Deputy Commissioners, are working tirelessly on disaster response, relief, and rehabilitation operations. With all available resources directed toward emergency efforts, district administrations have stated they are currently unable to provide protocol or security arrangements for visiting dignitaries or officials.
The government continues to monitor the situation and urges the public to remain cautious and cooperate with disaster management teams.
