Mizoram observes 35 years as state in muted manner

Mizoram is observing its 35th statehood day. On this occasion, Chief Minister Zoramthanga has sent out a special message to wish the people of the state. The Mizoram Chief Minister also expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi and other leaders for wishing the people of Mizoram on the statehood day. Chief Minister Zoramthanga however maintained that the celebrations was observed in a subdued manner since it falls on a Sunday.
Mizoram’s Statehood came after a long and bloody struggle in which the current Chief Minister Zoramthanga also played an important role. Led by Laldemnga the Mizo National Front had embarked on a long and bloody struggle which ended after the signing of the Mizo Peace Accord.
Mizoram was granted the status of a state on February 20th 1987. President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah also extended their greetings on Mizoram’s 35th Statehood day.
