Continuing its war on drugs, Mizoram police seized a huge quantity of heroin with a market value of Rs 1,06,41,000 and arrested a Myanmar national in connection with the seizure.
Based on a tip-off regarding an attempted sale of heroin, a team of Mizoram Police, District Special Branch of Aizawl led by ASI Zothantluanga Sailo along with the two witnesses conducted a search operation in Selesih area of Aizawl on Saturday.
During the search operation, the team intercepted a suspect on a scooter carrying two large white nylon bags near NEC Junction in Selesh.
On checking the bags, the police team recovered 311 soap cases containing 3.547 kgs of heroin.
Moreover, the accused was found to have no valid documents to enter India.
Police have registered a case against him under the Foreigners Act, 1946 leading to his prompt arrest.
The arrested drug peddler has been identified as C.T Liana (25), a resident of Tahan, Myanmar.
