Mizoram: Indigo staff rewarded for helping police seize drugs worth Rs 25.49 cr

HT Vanlalruati, Executive Security at Indigo Airlines at Lengpui airport in Mizoram has been awarded Rs 5,000 and a letter of appreciation by the State Police for helping them seize a substantial amount of drugs worth over Rs 25 crore and the recovery of live .22 ammunition.
“We are pleased to recognize her diligent and vigilant actions, which have contributed significantly to maintaining security and upholding the law, ” said Mizoram Police in a statement.
On October 3, Vanlalruati found 10 packets of suspected methamphetamine (Crystal Meth) weighing 10.200 kilograms with an estimated value of over Rs. 25.495 crore while screening check-in baggage at the Indigo screening point at Lengpui Airport.
The contraband was found in two blue suitcases belonging to two women passengers, Lalremthangi and Tinchuaii of Letpanchhawng of neighbouring Myanmar.
On October 9, Vanlalruati again found one live .22 ammunition in the check-in baggage of one passenger named William (35) of Churchandpur, Manipur. He was arrested and handed over to Police.
Cases have been registered against the arrested persons under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances Act.
