Mizoram HSSLC 2025 Results Declared: Pass Percentage at 81.10%, Girls Outshine Boys in All Streams

Mizoram HSSLC 2025 Results Declared: Female students continued their academic dominance, beating boys in both participation and success rates.
The Mizoram Board of School Education (MBSE) today announced the results of the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) Examination 2025, showcasing a remarkable improvement in overall student performance. Of the 12,281 registered candidates, 12,105 appeared for the exams, with 9,908 successfully passing, reflecting an overall pass percentage of 81.10%. This marks a significant 3.06% increase from last year’s 78.04%.
Out of the total successful candidates, 701 achieved distinction, while 3,250 secured First Division, 3,970 Second Division, and 1,896 Third Division. However, 2,197 students could not clear the examination.
Female students continued their academic dominance, beating boys in both participation and success rates. Notably, 1,015 more females appeared for the exam, and 1,035 more females passed than boys. Further highlighting this trend, all three stream toppers this year were female.
In the Arts stream, Lalrammawii Tochhawng of Mount Carmel School led with 471 marks. Cynthia Lalhlupuii Shangpliang of St. Paul’s Higher Secondary School topped the Science stream with 477 marks. Impressively, Cynthia also topped the HSLC exams previously. In Commerce, Kristin Laldinpuii Ralte from Oikos Higher Secondary School emerged as the topper with 470 marks.
Stream-wise pass percentages were also encouraging: Science at 85.63%, Arts at 80.13%, and Commerce at 74.42%. Both Science and Arts streams showed improvement, boosting the overall pass rate.
The 2025 examination papers maintained a balanced approach, comprising 50–60% Lower Order Thinking Skills (LOTS) and 40–50% Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). Looking ahead, MBSE intends to increase the HOTS component to enhance critical thinking.
In alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, MBSE will also introduce improvement and compartmental exams later this academic year, offering students greater academic flexibility and support.
