The Mizoram government has provided at least 74 days of wage employment to job cardholders under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) from January to October this year.
This was informed at a meeting of the state employment guarantee council, presided over by state rural development minister Lalruatkima. He further informed that 7 days of wage employment each will be arranged for job cardholders in November and December this year.
Lalruatkima said that the state government is making massive efforts to achieve 100 days of wage employment during the current fiscal year.
The Centre has so far released a sum of Rs 494.34 crore for providing wage employment, he said.
According to Lalruatkima, there are about 2 lakh job cardholders and each worker is given Rs 225 per day under the Central scheme.
The review meeting was attended by Chief Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Tripura.
