Lalrinawma submitted his resignation letter to the State Assembly Speaker Lalrinliana Sailo on Thursday. He would be sworn-in as a minister on Tuesday
Lalrinawma (49), who resigned as Deputy Speaker of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly on Thursday morning, would be sworn-in as a minister on Tuesday, officials said on Friday.
The officials said that Lalrinawma would be sworn-in on Tuesday, and governor, Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, would administer the oath of office at Aizawl Raj Bhavan.
He would replace the Minister of State, Dr. K. Beichhua, who resigned on Tuesday after being asked by the Chief Minister, Zoramthanga, to tender his resignation on Monday afternoon.
Lalrinawma submitted his resignation letter to the State Assembly Speaker Lalrinliana Sailo on Thursday, which was promptly accepted, and a notification was issued saying the post of deputy speaker was lying vacant as of Thursday afternoon.
He was elected from the Tuikum Assembly seat on the Mizo National Front (MNF) ticket in the 2018 state assembly general elections and elected as the deputy speaker of the state legislature. He is a degree holder in mechanical engineering.
He had bagged the same seat in the 2013 state assembly polls, and a number of the ruling MNF party members were shocked that he was not inducted as a minister after the 2018 assembly polls.
