Amid recent developments relating to the scraping of Free Movement Regime and the fencing of the Indo-Myanmar border, Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Saturday.
Sharing the meet on Social Media, the Chief Minister’s office informed that the Mizoram Chief Minister called on the Union Home Minister to discuss important matters. Earlier last month CM Lalduhoma had expressed his opposition to scraping of FMR and fencing of the Indo-Myanmar Border.
As per inputs, the Chief Minister discussed the fencing along the India-Myanmar border issue and shelter of refugees of the neighbouring country in his state.
The FMR allowed citizens residing close to both sides of the border to move 16 km into each other’s territory without passport or visa.
Mizoram shares a 510 km unfenced border with Myanmar.
The Chief Minister also met with Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandavia to discuss the enhancing state’s lone medical college, the Zoram Medical college.
He also met with Union MoS for Finance Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad in New Delhi and deliberated on boosting Mizoram’s finace and banking sectors.
The ongoing visit was Lalduhoma’s second tour to the national Capital after assuming the office as Chief Minister on December 8 last year.
