Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga on Wednesday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discussed various issues pertaining to the state.
The Chief Minister urged the Prime Minister to consider the peace in neighbouring Myanmar and to consider the state government’s request to appoint a Chief Secretary who has the knowledge of the working standard of Mizo language to be more effective and efficient.
CM Zoramthanga also urged PM Modi to intervene in the matter of shifting Assam Rifles battalion headquarters from Aizawl to Zokhawsang, and also requested for financial assistance to rehabilitate former cadres of the erstwhile underground Mizo National Front or MNF and martyrs who laid down their lives for the cause of Mizoram during the secessionist movement. The CM also urged the Centre to give assistance for the loan payment of Rs 18 crore to HUDCO.
The Prime Minister, on his part, assured the chief minister that he will take up the matter with other leaders and officials, the statement said.
